Side Effects Of Nuvaring Lawsuit News

One of the body’s most miraculous features is its ability to try to heal itself. When you scrape your knee, blood cells called platelets form a natural bandage in the form of a scab. This clotting process helps to keep bacteria out of the wound and allows it to heal. Unfortunately, for some women, they have suffered blood clots side effects of Nuvaring. Some of these clots start out as clot in the legs which can break free and travel up to the lungs causing a pulmonary embolism. Please contact us regarding your legal rights in being part of a Nuvaring lawsuit if you have suffered side effects.

Sometimes, however, the clotting process does not occur as it should. Sometimes unnecessary clots form in the veins or arteries, causing serious health conditions. These blood clots can be caused by damage to the blood vessel or when the blood becomes stagnant and does not move through the body as it should.

Blood clots generally fall into one of three categories:

Blood clots in the heart. As a result of a heart condition such as atrial fibrillation, the heart begins to beat irregularly and blood may pool in the heart, allowing clots to form.

Arterial thrombosis can occur when blood clots form in the artery. An arterial disease may cause this when plaque forms on the artery lining. If the plaque ruptures, a blood clot can form in its place.

Venous thrombosis occurs in the veins, and can be the result of blood stagnating in the legs.

Many risk factors of blood clots are related to health issues. Heart conditions, obesity, and high blood pressure can increase the likelihood of clots. Some risk factors are not related to health, but to medications. Studies have shown that women using NuvaRing birth control may have an increased risk of developing blood clots. It is believed that one of the hormones in the birth control ring affects the body’s clotting mechanism.

A person with a blood clot may feel no symptoms, mild symptoms, or severe discomfort. The area near the clot may feel warm or painful. The limb containing the clot may feel weak, appear larger than the other limb, or look paler or feel colder.

Although blood clots in the veins may be uncomfortable, the real danger is if the blood clots move upward through the blood vessels to the lungs or brain. Blood clots can become lodged in the blood vessels, blocking blood and oxygen, resulting in a pulmonary embolism or stroke.

On its own, the body will work to gradually shrink the clot, however, doctors still face the challenge of keeping a clot from moving upward in the bloodstream. Doctors may insert a vena cava filter into a vein in the abdomen to prevent any clots from reaching the lungs or brain. They may also prescribe certain medicines to thin the blood in order to keep the clot from getting larger. In addition, they may prescribe compression stockings to wear to keep the blood from pooling in the legs.

When detected early, blood clots can be treated successfully, however a person who has experienced blood clots is more likely to have them in the future. If you have had a blood clot, it is important to maintain good health and develop a life-long awareness of blood clot symptoms.

Some women who previously enjoyed good health have developed blood clots including DVT and pulmonary embolism after using the birth control ring. Once clots form, there is a risk that they can travel to your brain, triggering an ischemic stroke. If you have suffered abnormal clotting, DVT, or stroke after using the birth control ring, you may be due compensation from the manufacturer.
